CSPE411 Number Theory and Cryptography

Course Nature: PE

Objectives:

To emphasize the application of number theory in the design of cryptographic algorithms.

To understand the strength and weakness of cryptosystems.

To introduce elliptic curve cryptography.

Outcomes

Understand the significance of cryptography to the modern world.
Learn basic elements of number theory and its applications in cryptography.
Understand the mathematical foundations of cryptographic algorithms.
Understand public key cryptography, discrete logarithm problem, RSA cryptosystem, ECC, and various attacks.
Solve elementary problems in number theory relating to cryptography.
